Turning Heads

My love for the Jazz Age is one that had held my interest from a very early age. If time travel was indeed possible I'd bob my hair, throw on a drop waisted dress and apply all the red lipstick that I could get my hands on in a heartbeat!
Would you time travel to the Jazz Age wearing this outfit? (Check out the story I wrote to go with it too!)

Gina Lewis commented: "As night would fall on the streets of bustling New York I'd call a cab for an evening I'd never forget. I'd make my way to the hottest speakeasy; getting through the doors with my wit and charm. Once inside my excitement would reach even higher, for there, singing on the stage, was Duke Ellington himself. I immediately began to dance and let the sweet sounds of Jazz carry me through the night. Dresses swished and drinks were poured, I listened intently to the jokes of the dashing young men and charmed them as the evening wore on. Eventually, I'd play "bored" and throw haughty looks across the room to a table where one individual in particular had caught my eye. But then, just when I'd caught his attention, the bartender yelled out in warning. The police. Men and women scattered across the dance floor; like ants in the rain. The musicians on stage lifted the trap door and I was pulled into a throng of tipsy patrons. The commotion was unreal... shot glasses crashed to the floor, chairs were knocked sideways, and in the rush I stumbled, breaking my lovely heel. By then, I'd lost sight of the handsome young man and was finally nearing the trap door. As I descended into the dark wobbling on my uneven shoes, I listened to the hushed voices around me and the chaotic footsteps above. We followed the narrow basement room, bumping into each other with each step, until a a faint light was ahead. The exit onto the street was so near! Once outside I stopped for a moment, I could see another police car just a few doors down. The crowd was thinning, and I frantically began waving for a cab. But the police had spotted us, there wasn’t enough time. Cab after cab was being filled with panicked speakeasy goers, but I still couldn’t reach one. Then as if out of a dream, I felt a warm hand on the small my back and was pushed forward towards the street, I nearly tripped over the curb and yelped out as I was pulled into the backseat of a cab, just before the police officer reached me. The automobile jolted forward and the young man beside me, the one I’d spotted from across the room just minutes before, looked at me smiling, “Well, now wasn’t that fun?” " – 260 days ago
